# Domains

> See which sites the AI assistants read and cite when they answer your prompts, and how often they read yours.

Before they answer, AI assistants read pages on the web. Domains shows which sites they read and cite for your prompts, so you know where your brand needs to be present. In the sidebar, under **Sources**, click **Domains**. To see single pages instead of whole sites, use [URLs](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/urls.md).

To change the period, the assistants or the prompts, use the filter bar: [Filter reports](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/filters.md). What **Retrieved**, **Cited** and **Citation position** mean: [Metrics](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/metrics.md#source-metrics).

The line under the title tells you in how many answers your site was read, and the same for your top competitor, plus how many domains appear among the sources in the period.

## Top domains over time

The chart shows, for the five most read domains, how many answers read each one. Switch between **Daily** and **Weekly** in the chart header.

## Sites by type

Each bar is the share of answers that read at least one site of that type. One answer often reads several types, so the bars don't add up to 100%.

* **Your site** and **Competitor** come from the brands you track.
* Other sites are typed as **Corporate**, **Editorial**, **Institutional**, **Community**, **Reference** or **Other**.
* **Not yet typed**: SEOmator hasn't classified the site yet.

Click a type to filter the table to it. Click it again to clear the filter.

## All domains

The table lists the domains the assistants read or cite in the answers that match the filters, most read first. Click **Domain**, **Retrieved**, **Cited** or **Citation position** to sort by that column.

| Column | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Domain** | The site. |
| **Owner** | The tracked brand the site belongs to, if any. |
| **Type** | The site type. |
| **Brands** | Tracked brands named in the answers that read this site. |
| **Retrieved** | The site's Retrieved share, with its change in `pts`. |
| **Cited** | The site's Cited share. |
| **Citation position** | Its average place among the pages an answer cites. |

The table shows the top 100 domains, 15 at a time.

## A domain's page

Click a domain in the table to open its page.

**Visit site** opens the site, and a line tells you in how many answers it was read, and how often you and your top competitor were named in them. The page then shows:

* **Retrieved**, **Cited** and **Citation position**, with their change, and **Pages**: how many of its pages the assistants read in the period.
* **Over time**: the answers that read each of its most read pages, per day or week.
* **Pages**: the pages of this domain that the assistants read. Click one to open it in [URLs](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/urls.md).
* **By assistant**: for each assistant, the share of its answers that read the site, how many answers that is, and how many cite it (**n/a** for Gemini).
* **Prompts that lead to it**: the prompts whose answers read it, most answers first.
* **Answers that read it**: the latest answers whose sources include it. Click one to read it, or click **See all** to open [Answers](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/answers.md) filtered to this domain.

## Export the domains

To download the domains table as a CSV file, click **Export CSV** at the end of the filter bar.
