# Filter reports

> Narrow any report by period, assistant, prompt type, topic or intent, and compare it with the previous period.

Every report starts with the same filter bar: [Insights](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/insights.md), [Answers](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/answers.md), [Fan-out](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/fanout.md), [Domains](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/domains.md), [URLs](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/urls.md), [Prompts](https://docs.seomator.com/setup/prompts.md) and [Competitors](https://docs.seomator.com/setup/competitors.md), and the pages of a single prompt, domain or page. Your filters are kept in the page address, so a copied link opens the same view.

## The filter bar

| Control | Choices | Default |
| - | - | - |
| Date range | **Last 7 days**, **Last 14 days**, **Last 30 days**, **Last 90 days** or **Custom range** | **Last 7 days** |
| Assistants | **All assistants**, or any mix of **ChatGPT**, **Google AI Mode** and **Gemini** | **All assistants** |
| **Type is** | **Non-branded**, **Branded** or **All** | **Non-branded** |
| **Filter** | One **Topic** and one **Intent** (**Research**, **Compare** or **Buy**). On Answers, also one **Prompt**, **Brand** and **Domain** | None |

On wide screens, the dates the report covers show at the end of the filter bar.

## Date range

Click the date button and choose a period. For **Custom range**, enter the **From** and **To** dates. A custom range ends yesterday at the latest and covers up to 92 days.

In the same menu, **Compare to previous period** is on by default. It compares each number with the same number of days just before the range, and the menu shows both spans. Turn it off to hide the changes. How a change is counted: [Metrics](https://docs.seomator.com/reports/metrics.md#changes-against-the-previous-period).

## Assistants

Click **All assistants** and select the assistants to keep. Choose **All assistants** again to clear the choice.

## Type

The **Type is** button chooses which prompts count:

| Type | Prompts it counts |
| - | - |
| **Non-branded** | Prompts that don't name your brand. |
| **Branded** | Prompts that name your brand. |
| **All** | Both. |

Branded prompts are left out by default, because an answer to a question that already names your brand will almost always name it too. A prompt's page has no **Type is** button. What makes a prompt branded: [Prompts](https://docs.seomator.com/setup/prompts.md#what-each-prompt-has).

## Filter conditions

Click **Filter**, or press <kbd>F</kbd>, then choose a condition and its value. Each condition shows as a chip in the filter bar, for example **Intent** is **Compare**. Click **×** on a chip to remove it, or click **Clear** to remove them all.

If a report shows **No answers match these filters**, choose a longer period or remove a filter.
